PICO 4 Ultra — specification and verdict
The consumer PICO 4 Ultra is the same hardware as the Enterprise model already in this comparison: 2,160 x 2,160 per eye behind pancake optics, a 105-degree field of view, 90 Hz, colour passthrough from dual 32 MP cameras, and a Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 with 12 GB of memory. PICO publishes a 580 g weight for it and ships a glasses spacer in the box. What it does not include is the business tier: no PICO Business Device Manager, no enterprise store.
For training this is the trade-off in one line: you get an identical, capable standalone headset for a consumer price, but you lose the first-party fleet management that makes the Enterprise SKU easy to administer. A handful of units is fine — hand tracking works, the courses run, the face cushion cleans between users. Past ten or so devices you will want a third-party fleet platform to enrol them and push the training app, the same way a Quest fleet now needs one.
Buy the consumer PICO 4 Ultra when the fleet is small or when your IT team already runs a third-party device-management platform. When you need central control from the vendor — enrolment, kiosk lockdown, settings across the whole fleet — pay the difference for the PICO 4 Ultra Enterprise instead; the headset is the same, the management is not.

Average pixel density is our own arithmetic: panel pixels divided by the field of view on the same axis. It is the standard approximation, and it runs lower than a published peak figure because a lens packs pixels denser at the centre.
Who this device is for
PICO 4 Ultra is for a company that wants a Quest 3 alternative with 12 GB of RAM and a 2160x2160 panel — often because Meta's account model or its withdrawal from the business market is the blocker. Our courses run on it. Buy the consumer version only if you are managing a handful of headsets; a real fleet wants the Enterprise edition on this same hardware.
How it differs from its predecessor
Against Quest 3 it has the same Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 with more memory, a slightly higher per-eye resolution and full-body motion trackers Meta has no answer to — and a single 90 Hz refresh rate against Quest 3's 120 Hz, plus a smaller ecosystem of training content. Reviewers who tested both put the passthrough quality behind Meta's.
What is missing, and what the manufacturer does not publish
The consumer edition has no device management and no enterprise licensing — that is the Enterprise SKU's entire reason to exist, and it is a different purchase. Refresh tops out at 90 Hz, storage is fixed at 256 GB, there is no eye tracking, and PICO's availability varies by market in a way Meta's does not; check the sales channel for your country before planning a rollout.

- Is PICO 4 Ultra a real alternative to Quest 3 for companies?
- Yes on hardware and yes for our courses, which run on both. The differences that decide it are practical: PICO offers an Enterprise edition with device management, which Meta no longer sells, while Meta has the larger training-content ecosystem and higher refresh rate.
- What are the PICO motion trackers for?
- They strap to the legs or waist and give the system full-body position rather than head and hands alone. In training that matters for posture and stance work — a scenario about safe lifting or working at height can see what the whole body did, not just where the controllers were.
- Does PICO 4 Ultra work in Poland and the EU?
- It sells in the EU, but PICO's distribution has been uneven market to market and some models arrive as imports. Before planning a fleet, confirm the sales channel and the warranty path for your country — that, rather than the specification, is what usually decides between PICO and Meta.
